Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu, under the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB), has promoted 181 staff in the last one year of his administration.
The administration has also ensured the recruitment and deployment of 317 new teachers within the period.
This was revealed by Alhaji Odumbo, at the press conference commemorating the 365 days of his administration, held last Thursday, at the Methodist Primary School premises, Ikorodu.

Odumbo unveiled the impacts of his administration in the areas of infrastructural upgrade, staff training and professional development, academic and curricular performance, policy and administrative efficiency and staff & pupils’ welfarism, where laudable and verifiable progress and achievements were enumerated.
Speaking on his administration’s policy and administrative efficiency, the Education Secretary said that within the period under review, there was seamless promotion of 181 candidates for 2026, while more than 800 candidates were prepared for 2027 promotion exercise.
He also said that his administration has recruited and deployed 188 new teachers in 2025 and 129 in 2026, while he has also accepted and posted NYSC members to various public primary schools.

Another major policy decision within the period are upgrading of classroom teachers to Assistant Headteachers, and promotions to Headteachers and Centre Coordinators.
According to Odumbo, he has presented 22 candidates for cadre conversion and 72 for appointment confirmation, while 62 retirees have been successfully presented to the Lagos State Pension Board.
Also, within the one year period, the Education Secretary, Ikorodu LGEA, also said that over 400 out‑of‑school children were re‑enrolled through Project Zero and UBEC/SUBEB campaigns, while Uniform Voluntary Organizations were relaunched in public Primary Schools across the Division.

Other achievements of the LGEA, in the last one year, according to the Education Secretary, are:
“Revival of School Based Management Committees (SBMC) to strengthen grassroots participation.
“Creation of additional learning centers for Information and Communication Technology, Art & Craft, and Home Economics Centers.
Alhaji Odumbo administration also strengthened collaboration with LASUBEB, UBEC, NGOs, and LCDA chairmen, for policy implementation.
